You are sure to see the most diverse downhill categories, the finest snow, the greatest modern lift and gondola systems, and an attractive range of offers on and off the slopes. Innsbruck

The old town center of Innsbruck is one of the city’s most popular attractions. The seemingly untouched 500-year-old cobbled lanes bring you back in time. The city has done a spectacular job preserving late-medieval architecture. Grindelwald and Méribel

TRAVEL DATES: Saturday February 25 – Saturday March 11, 2023

Grindelwald, Switzerland

Abutting the famously rugged Eiger, Jungfrau and Monch peaks, a Grindelwald ski vacation is sure to please anyone in search of a good view. Grindelwald is the largest of the Interlaken-based resorts, known as Jungfrau Top Ski area, in the Bernese Oberland Mountains of Switzerland. Grindelwald is directly linked to Wengen ski area, and the Top Ski lift ticket provides access to the resort’s combined 132 miles of ski terrain over 50 pistes. The Jungfrau Top Ski resort accesses pistes above 7,500 feet, ensuring that skiers and boarders experience exceptional snow coverage. And despite being one of Europe’s favorite ski destinations, the Jungfrau region rarely experiences crowds, thanks to its three sprawling base areas, and centrally located Interlaken. Plus, the resort’s 20 chairlifts transport 42,000 passengers uphill in an hour.

Non-skiers and those looking for a variety of activities and experiences, will be incredibly pleased, thanks to the world-famous cogwheel train, which shuttles skiers and sightseers alike to the “Top of Europe,” the saddle between Jungfrau and Monch peak. Those looking to participate in winter activities will be pleased to learn that Grindelwald is home to the longest toboggan run in the Alps, and the Grindelwald Valley features 12 miles of world-class cross-country skiing trails.

Spend a day in the Lauterbrunnen Valley in the center of the Bernese Alps. Take a spectacular roundtrip by train, cable car, and railway to the areas of Lauterbrunnen, Mürren, and Schilthorn, to the places where the 1969 James Bond movie was filmed.

With so much terrain to explore, a lively and storied base village in Interlaken, and spectacular Alpine peaks, you might as well start planning your Grindelwald ski vacation today.

Méribel, France

Located in an idyllic natural setting, Méribel embodies the charm of a mountain village, with its traditional chalets of wood and stones. Originally designed by ski lovers, its architects and its inhabitants have created an exceptional resort with slopeside accommodation. Méribel benefits from its privileged location, in the heart of the largest ski area in the world – the 3 Valleys, providing access to all types of winter sports over its 373 miles of slopes that are served by more than 100 ski lifts. Known for its variety of slopes, the resort allows skiers of all levels to enjoy exceptional skiing through the pine forests on freshly groomed slopes, with snow guaranteed throughout the winter season.

Discover cross-country skiing on Méribel’s two exceptional areas which offer you a wide variety of free trails. You can set out for skating or classic skiing (or even biathlon) on cross-country trails which are suitable for beginners as well as experts. Méribel and Courchevel share a total of more than 56 miles of cross-country trails, including one which links the two resorts around the flank of the mountain (5 miles one way).

Thanks to its discreet luxury and its emphasis on serenity and comfort, Méribel is known as the resort where one can relax in one of our many prestigious establishments, each bestowed with cozy spas carrying the best high range products. Thanks to its many top level restaurants, Méribel offers an exceptional gourmet experience, with French gastronomic meals or traditional local food.

Serre Chevalier France

TRAVEL DATES: March 3 – 15, 2023

Serre Chevalier

Serre Chevalier is an attractive resort, with narrow cobbled streets and pretty shops lining the village’s main road. Most of the accommodation consists of small chalets, family-run B&Bs, or self-catered. Serre Chevalier Vallée Briançon, is a destination like no other: the only example in France of a ski resort backing onto a town of more than 10,000 inhabitants, offering an exceptional variety of activities associated with a unique heritage, spectacular and preserved landscapes, in a privileged climate.
The main town of Briançon is at the lower end of the valley at 1200 meters altitude increasing to 1350 meters altitude where its old walled town called Cité Vauban sits majestically surrounded by smaller forts of distinction. Briançon stands out for its picturesque town and its fortifications, which are listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, but it also stands out for the fact that almost unique in Europe, this town of art and history is also a ski resort. Travel north from Briançon and you come to the villages of Saint Chaffrey-Chantemerle (1350 meters), Villeneuve La Salle (1400 meters), and Le Monêtier les Bains (1500 meters) the alpine spa village with its fabulous thermal spa. The Serre Chevalier resort is located right in the middle of magnificent nature in the “Les Ecrins” National Park with the 4102 m high “Dôme des Ecrins” and wonderful centuries-old larch and pine trees. Whether you searching for a high alpine skiing experience with a view of the glacier or cool cross-country skiing through the larch forests – both are on offer. Plenty of variety is offered with mogul slopes and wide runs, the “Altitude” Snowpark is spread over 3 hectares with a length of 700 m divided into 3 difficulty levels ranging from beginner to expert as well as a boarder and skicross course with steep curves. The needs of families are also catered to on the marked slopes.
Snow cover is exceptionally good which is down to the resort’s north-facing position. Slopes are colder for longer and they tend to hold onto more snow. The majority of the skiing is on the top half of the mountain and the trees protect the lower slopes. Snow-making machines protect the base of the valley pistes and the grooming is consistently well done. The valley grows quiet in May and November each year when many local shop and restaurant owners take a break and head south or spend time with family. Briançon however remains alive and attracts visitors all year round thanks to its historic routes (medieval fortresses surround the town) and its central location where you can choose to take any of the five different valleys including the Guisane (mentioned above), Durance (direction south) and the Clarée towards Italy.

Tignes and Paris

TRAVEL DATES: March 4 – 13, 2023

Tignes (French pronunciation: [tiɲ]) is a commune in the Tarentaise Valley, in the Savoie department in the Rhône-Alpes region in south-eastern France, known for the highest skiable area in Europe[2] and the longest ski season in Europe[3]. It is located in the Savoie region with good transport links in and out of Lyon, Geneva, and Chambery.
It is best known as a snow-sure ski resort. Together with neighboring Val d’Isère, it forms the “Espace Killy” ski area. The proximity of the two resorts offers one of the most seamless links between ski areas in Europe, in effect creating a single skiable area of over 300 km piste. Whilst not the largest ski area in the Alps, the level of integration between the two resorts has the effect of making it feel as one, often described as feeling like one of the largest single ski areas as a result.
Tignes was the freestyle skiing venue for the 1992 Winter Olympics, co-host city for the 1992 Winter Paralympics, and host of the Winter X Games. This, coupled with the year-round skiing, season length, and a large number of ski parks/slalom runs has supplanted Tignes as the go-to training ground for snow sport athletes[4].
The terrain of the valley lends itself to more challenging skiing, with advanced skiers often opting for the resort as their preferred ski area. The town has however strived to improve its appeal to beginner and intermediate skiers with the introduction of easier runs lower down in the valley towards Tignes- Les-Brévières and upgrading/installing new chairlifts with smaller elevation gains.

Whistler Canada

TRAVEL DATES: March 31 – April 7 , 2023
Snow-capped peaks and powdered steeps; sparkling lakes and gushing waterfalls; challenging hiking trails and inviting restaurants – Whistler’s offerings suit every season. However, its most popular attraction remains Whistler Blackcomb, and why wouldn’t it? The massive resort spans more than 8,100 acres of land, sees nearly 40 feet of snowfall annually, and boasts some of the most active après-ski spots in North America. The entire town, which sits about 75 miles north of Vancouver, embodies the ski-chic atmosphere, hosting dozens of ski and snowboard competitions
and festivals annually. Whistler continues to buzz through the warmer months when more outdoor enthusiasts come out to play. Visitors can try bobsledding or hiking and biking up the mountains. And those who come to town looking for photo-ops will find plenty. The Coast Mountains offer a picture-perfect setting: You’ll find the best views on a ride on the PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola, which spans Whistler and Blackcomb mountains.
While Whistler is an ideal vacation spot for the active types, more mellow travelers will enjoy the area’s museums and art galleries which are filled with informative exhibits. Plus, the town boasts family-friendly activities and attractions like ice skating, summer concerts, and the Whistler Sliding Centre, along with plenty of shopping options and a deluge of dining venues. With pristine ski spots and plenty of outdoor pursuits, you’ll see why so many just want to grab their gear and get to Whistler.
Best Months to Visit
The best times to visit Whistler are from June through August and between December and March. The mountains see peak skiing conditions from December to February, and March brings warmer temperatures but still offers quality snow. In June and July, Blackcomb Mountain reopens for glacier skiing while the rest of Whistler acts as a home base for camping and exploring the great outdoors. Meanwhile, September, October, and November are prime times for leaf peeping. April and May bring moderate temperatures, making these months ideal for outdoorsy activities like hiking and biking.
Yogi is not your friend!
Whistler’s wilderness is home to many black and grizzly bears. Keep your distance and do not feed them.
Drive slow for snow!
Whistler receives feet of snow each year. If you’re driving in the winter, slow down and make sure to rent or come with a reliable SUV.

TRAVEL DATES: February 15 – 19, 2023
Here, amazement is something you fall into, and it’s waiting eagerly for anyone willing to make the trip to seize it. It’s a place packed with possibilities.
Whether you’re dipping a paddle into the crystal-clear waters of the Deschutes River, sipping a frosted pint of your favorite craft brew, or plunging into the frosty unknown on a pair of snowshoes, Bend has a way of putting you at ease and in awe all at the same time.
Bend is world-famous for both its outdoor pursuits and pristine beauty. You can catch an art exhibit, dine at an award-winning restaurant, spoil yourself at one of our many spas, or trek the legendary Bend Ale Trail, the largest beer trail in the West. Bend makes a great spot for family-friendly fun as well, from cool snowshoe tours in some of Bend’s snowy forests to watching raptors soar at the High Desert Museum. When you’re all done with the fun, Bend’s diverse lodging options are sure to recharge you. What will your Bend adventure be?
Central Oregon has a dry climate, plentiful sunshine, and excellent weather conditions for sunny days on the mountain. Mt. Bachelor is the largest resort in the area – outstripping every other resort by 1,000 acres. It usually opens in November around Thanksgiving and runs through May, making it one of the longest ski seasons in the country. With already a fair amount of snow, the runs are bolstered by snowmaking.
Central Oregon, the town of Bend, and Mt. Bachelor ski area are excellent options for summer recreation and bike riding in particular. Bachelor’s mountain bike park is a popular option for village visitors after the ski area’s winter closing date. Mt. Bachelor lodging options are based out of Bend and Sunriver, and many of the properties offer transportation via the Mt. Bachelor Shuttle.

Banff march 2023

TRAVEL DATES: Sunday March 12 – Saturday March 18, 2023
If you’re itching to experience the lifestyle of a Swiss skiing village, but don’t want to fork over the cash for a trans-Atlantic flight, consider Banff. Thanks to its location in the heart of the Canadian Rockies near the southeastern border of Banff National Park – Canada’s first national park – taking trips here will decrease not only your flight time from the U.S. but also your expenses (although only marginally). Banff caters to intrepid explorers who prefer to end the day in a nice hotel rather than roughing it at the campgrounds (though, there are plenty of those, too). Opportunities for adventure abound, so pick your sport: Ski down Mount Norquay, hike to the massive, free-standing limestone pillars known as the Hoodoos, “scramble” up the face of the Stoney Squaw Mountain, or bike along Healy Creek. When you are exhausted, retreat to your cozy (and warm) resort, and replenish yourself with a hefty helping of bison meat.
The best times to visit Banff are June to August and December to March. Nature lovers will want to get to the park when the weather is warm and welcoming (and while the hotel rates in town are at a reasonable level). The skiers, however, will want to vacation in the height of winter. Depending on what you want to do, Banff can be seen as an almost year-round destination (although fall can be a bit of a gamble). Temperatures fluctuate dramatically throughout the year; average winter temperatures range from the single digits to the low 30s. During the summer, average temperatures range from 40 to 70 degrees Fahrenheit. No matter when you choose to visit, plan to wear sunglasses, a hat, and plenty of sunscreens to protect against UV exposure: The sun at these alpine altitudes is strong.

santorini

Santorini is one of the Cyclades islands in the Aegean Sea. Crescent-shaped Santorini (or Thira), the precious gem of the Aegean, is actually a group of islands consisting of Thira, Thirassia, Aspronissi, Palea and Nea Kameni in the southernmost part of Cyclades.
It was devastated by a volcanic eruption in the 16th century BC, forever shaping its rugged landscape. The whitewashed, cubiform houses of its 2 principal towns, Fira and Oia, cling to cliffs above an underwater caldera (crater). They overlook the sea, small islands to the west and beaches made up of black, red and white lava pebbles.

Start your tour by exploring Singapore, a city state at the crossroads of culture. Singapore warmly embraces the kaleidoscope of peoples that call the country home, and which you’ll discover in the cultural enclaves of Chinatown, Little India and Kampong Glam (Malay district). And this melting pot has left a lasting impact on the vibrant culinary scene, one of Southeast Asia’s best. In recent years, awe-inspiring, futuristic attractions like Gardens by the Bay and Marina Bay Sands have enhanced the city skyline. However, the country still retains its charming, historic neighborhoods crisscrossed by crowded side streets still teeming with traditional vendor stalls. Nicknamed, the “City in a Garden”, Singapore is covered in greenery and full of impressive gardens, such as the Singapore Botanic Garden which is home to the world’s largest orchid display.

Then, continue your Asian adventure in Bali. The first part of your stay is in Nusa Lembongan Island. An island that embraces the beauty of Balinese culture but without the crowds. Located just 30 minutes by boat from Bali’s Sanur, this is what people say Bali was like 30 years ago. In Lembongan you’ll find pristine beaches with coarse white sand, soaring cliff viewpoints, and sea views that can get very idyllic at sunset. Divers can explore vivid reefs off its southwestern coast. The island also has a mysterious underground house, lush mangrove forests, and seafood farming villages.

End your adventure with a complete change of scenery in the uplands of Bali, in artistic and wonderfully serene Ubud, the cultural epicenter of this lush and laid-back island. Hindu temples adorn the urban landscape while looming volcanoes and vibrant green rice terraces decorate the horizon. Ubud is the type of town where time takes a break, where days among the restaurants, cafes and artisan street stalls inadvertently turn to weeks. You’ll have a hard time leaving Ubud, and an even harder time forgetting it!

Singapore

Though physically small, Singapore is an economic giant. A truly modern metropolis, the city-state of Singapore is unlike anywhere else in Southeast Asia. Founded as a trading post for the British Empire, its rapid development and western style are a counterpoint to the more visceral Asian cities of Thailand, Vietnam, and Malaysia.
Because of its efficient and determined government, Singapore has become a flourishing country that excels in trade and tourism and is a model for developing nations. The capital city, also called Singapore, covers about a third of the area of the main island and is a blended mix of Malay, Chinese, Arab, Indian and English cultures and religions. Its unique ethnic tapestry affords visitors a wide array of sightseeing as well as culinary opportunities from which to choose.

Lembongan

Nusa Lembongan is an island located southeast of Bali. It is part of a group of three islands that make up the Nusa Penida district, of which it is the most famous. Full of hidden coves, perfect sunset spots, lovely guesthouses, and boutique resorts, Nusa Lembongan is perfect for a couple of days away from it all. Scuba diving around Nusa Lembongan and its neighbors, particularly Nusa Penida, is excellent. Spotting huge manta rays, underwater buddha statues and beautiful corals and colorful fish are the highlights. Nusa Lembongan is one of the best places to visit in Bali, providing a perfect balance between raw natural beauty, relaxation, and adventure.

Ubud

Ubud is, in many ways, the cultural hub of Bali. Home to one of Bali’s royal families, this traditional country town has royal palaces and ancient temples. The town is also where some of the world’s notable artisans and collectors have visited and worked in. Along the main street are dozens of art studios and galleries, along with an excellent local crafts market selling antiques, woodcarvings, crafts, textiles, paintings, and jewelry. A short drive outside Ubud will take you to Tegenungan Waterfall, Ubud Monkey Forest, and the photogenic Tegallalang rice terrace. Join a day trip to local villages like Campuhan, Penestanan, Peliatan, and Batuan, where you can see locals making and selling authentic Balinese crafts.

EXPERIENCE

Magestic Gardens in Lion City Singapore

One of the top places to visit in Asia, Gardens by the Bay spans over 100 hectares and is a highlight for any visitor to Singapore. Built at a cost of over one billion dollars, the gardens opened June 2012 and have already been billed as an unmissable attraction. The gardens house two domes or conservatories, Cloud Forest and Flower Dome, which are climate-controlled indoor glasshouses. The Flower Dome (the larger of the two) replicates the cool-dry climate of the Mediterranean and South Africa, whilst the Cloud Forest replicates a cool-moist climate found in Tropical Montane regions such as Mount Kinabalu in Sabah and high elevation areas in South America. Within the gardens, there are also 18 impressive-looking Supertrees (tree-like structures), which are vertical gardens up to 50 metres tall and perform a multitude of functions. Along with providing a bird’s eye view of the entire gardens, they also collect rainwater, generate solar power and act as vending ducts for the park’s conservatory. During our visit to Gardens by the Bay, we shall visit the Flower Dome and Cloud Forest, as well as an elevated walkway situated between two of the larger Supertrees. Here we can enjoy an impressive aerial view of the gardens.

HIGHLIGHTS

Porto, Portugal

Porto is a coastal city in northwest Portugal known for its stately bridges and port wine production. In the medieval Ribeira (riverside) district, narrow cobbled streets wind past merchants’ houses and cafes. Sao Francisco Church is known for its lavish baroque interior with ornate gilded carvings. The palatial 19th-century Palacio de Bolsa, formerly a stock market, was built to impress potential European investors.
Porto gives you as much cobbled-street charm and dazzling ancient architecture as you’ll get anywhere else in Europe, and it’s nestled in one of the world’s leading wine regions — yet it’s still affordable and uncrowded. The city gets much of its character from Spain and North Africa — the signature azulejo blue tiles, which you’ll see adorning many of the buildings, have Moorish roots. It’s also one of the best places in Europe to see medieval architecture; Portugal stayed neutral during World War II and was never bombed, so you’ll find that the sorts of fortresses you’re used to seeing only as ruins are still intact.

Alentejo, Portugal

The Alentejo is a geographical, historical and cultural region of south-central and southern Portugal. In Portuguese, its name means “beyond the Tagus river”. Visitors of the Alentejo Region are at first taken by surprise by the remarkable traces of successive cultures: dolmens and cromlechs, Roman and Arab vestiges mingling with the most recent signs of Christianity, exemplified by the numerous medieval castles that stand out in the vast plain. A region of sun-baked olive groves, fortified towns and traditional villages, all of which are a joy to explore from Evora. Evora and the Alentejo offer a truly unique Portuguese experience, with a distinctive heritage, delicious regional cuisines and an infectious unhurried pace of life

Although equal in beauty to neighboring Mediterranean mainstays like Majorca and St.-Tropez, the Algarve is still enjoying relative obscurity but with glittering new resorts popping up along the coastline, a handful of Michelin-starred restaurants, and a delicious type of wine you won’t find anywhere else, it’s only a matter of time before that’s no longer the case. Beaches are the biggest draw, with more than 150 rolling out their wide, golden shores like welcome mats. Many are bordered by craggy rock cliffs and caves for an extra photogenic effect. Some 300 to 350 indigenous varieties of grapes grow in Portugal, and as a result, you can toss a cork in any direction and hit a bottle of delicious, locally produced wine. Negra Mole grapes, however, grow exclusively in the Algarve, and they’re used to produce a gentle, drinkable red that hits the palate like a Pinot Noir.

Lisbon is Portugal’s hilly, coastal capital city. From imposing Sao Jorge Castle, the view encompasses the old city’s pastel-colored buildings, Tagus Estuary and Ponte 25 de Abril suspension bridge. Nearby, the National Azulejo Museum displays 5 centuries of decorative ceramic tiles. Just outside Lisbon is a string of Atlantic beaches, from Cascais to Estoril. Lisbon is one of the most charismatic and vibrant cities of Europe. It is a city that effortlessly blends traditional heritage, with striking modernism and progressive thinking. As a holiday destination, Lisbon offers a rich and varied history, a buzzing nightlife, delicious and affordable food, some of the best wines and is blessed with a glorious year-round climate.

Cascais, a formerly quaint fishing village that became (along with neighboring Estoril) a popular resort favored by European nobility and kings in the early 20th century. Today, it’s a colorful cosmopolitan town with elegant pedestrian streets, luxuriant villas, fashionable shops, restaurants and bars. Elements of its fishing village roots can still be felt at the lively fish auction that takes place every afternoon by the main beach and its brightly painted fishing boats, and the story of old Cascais is told by old photographs, paintings, and other items at the small “Museu do Mar” (Museum of the Sea).

Sintra, Portugal

Considered not only one of the wonders of Portugal but indeed of Europe, Sintra is truly a gem. Once the royal town of the country, it now deservedly holds UNESCO world heritage status and attracts hordes of visitors throughout the year. Its unusual geography, nestled in a stretch of hills surrounded on all sides by plain, estuary or ocean, and its subsequent climate, which is perhaps more typical of Northern Europe, create a verdant paradise where ornate palaces lie hidden behind tall trees and walled gardens, history abounds and romantics feel that they have at last found their nirvana. Hans Christian Anderson found inspiration here, describing Sintra as the “most beautiful place in Portugal” and Lord Byron during his time here christened it his “glorious Eden”. However, perhaps the most distinguished homage is paid by Portugal’s national poet, Luis de Camoes, in his epic poem Os Lusiadas.

Scotland and Ireland group trip 2019

From medieval old towns and fairytale castles to rolling green hills and craggy coastlines, the allure of Scotland and Ireland beckons your imagination. Leprechauns vs. lake monsters. Bagpipes vs. Blarney Stone. Guinness vs. gallons of whisky. It’s impossible to choose a favorite when Scotland & Ireland go head to head. Hence you need to do them both.

Optional Pre-trip Extension to London July 2-6

Glasgow is a port city on the River Clyde in Scotland’s western Lowlands. It’s famed for its Victorian and art nouveau architecture, a rich legacy of the city’s 18th–20th-century prosperity due to trade and shipbuilding. Today it’s a national cultural hub, home to institutions including the Scottish Opera, Scottish Ballet and National Theatre of Scotland, as well as acclaimed museums and a thriving music scene.

Edinburgh is the capital of Scotland and it is located in central eastern Scotland, near the Firth of Forth, close to the North Sea. Thanks to its spectacular rocks, rustic buildings and a huge collection of medieval and classic architecture, including numerous stone decorations, it is often considered one of the most lively cities in Europe.
Edinburgh is not only one of the most beautiful cities in Europe, it is a city with a fantastic position. The view falls on all sides – green hills, the hint of the blue sea, the silhouettes of the buildings and the red cliffs. It is a city that calls you to explore it by foot – narrow streets, passageways, stairs and hidden church yards on every step will pull you away from the main streets.

Elegantly arranged along the Tay, Perth is a pleasant city with large tracts of parkland surrounding an easily navigated center. Perth was once the capital of Scotland and the Scottish Parliament once sat here. Today, the city is laced with gorgeous city architecture, unrivaled surrounding landscapes and an intriguing royal history. The ‘Fair City’ of Scotland continues to inspire locals and travelers alike.

Culture, history and super-friendly people are what Belfast is all about. Visit here and you’ll experience a place unlike any other in Europe. This is a city that can trace its history back to the Bronze Age; a city that built Titanic; a city forging a unique food scene; and a city that dances to its own beat. From its mighty shipbuilding past to the dynamic arts scene that swirls around the Cathedral Quarter, Belfast likes to mix it up.

A harbor city on Ireland’s west coast, sits where the River Corrib meets the Atlantic Ocean. The city’s hub is 18th-century Eyre Square, a popular meeting spot surrounded by shops and traditional pubs that often offer live Irish folk music. Nearby, stone-clad cafes, boutiques and art galleries line the winding lanes of the Latin Quarter, which retains portions of the medieval city walls.

Welcome to Dublin, a lively capital city that’s as intimate as a village and as friendly as your local Irish pub. With its seamless blend of classic visitor sights, excellent social scene and the natural playgrounds of Dublin Bay and the Dublin Mountains framing it on all sides, this laid back city is an adventure in itself. Dublin is all about the muse behind the music, the craic, and, of course, the people! Dublin has been named Europe’s friendliest city twice by TripAdvisor for good reason. So grab a pint, strike up a conversation, and settle in for the experience of a lifetime.

London, city, capital of the United Kingdom. It is among the oldest of the world’s great cities—its history spanning nearly two millennia—and one of the most cosmopolitan. By far Britain’s largest metropolis, it is also the country’s economic, transportation, and cultural center.

At its center stand the imposing Houses of Parliament, the iconic ‘Big Ben’ clock tower and Westminster Abbey, site of British monarch coronations. Across the Thames River, the London Eye observation wheel provides panoramic views of the South Bank cultural complex, and the entire city.

Today Kraków, the former capital of Poland, is one of the most important cultural and tourist centers of the country, and the seat to many cultural institutions, theatres, cinemas, museums and philharmonic that make life pleasant for the inhabitants and over 7 million tourists visiting our City every year. Nowhere in Poland could one find such a rich variety of cultural and artistic events: every year Kraków is host to over 40 festivals like the International Jewish Culture Festival, the Print Triennial, the Sacrum Profanum Festival, and the International Short Film Festival. Every year the City hosts over 2,500 performances and concerts. Kraków is a special place that, like a magnet, attracts the people of culture and art who draw their inspiration from the atmosphere and rich past of the City.

Kraków has many green areas that provide opportunities for recreation and active rest, including the Botanical Garden of the Jagiellonian University and the Zoological Garden in the Wolski forest complex which is a traditional place of recreation for the inhabitants. The rich and constantly expanded recreational base (ice rink, swimming pools, including the Aqua Park, tennis courts, and the network of cycling paths) and other venues encourage people to practice sports and spend their time in the open air.

Tips:

  • With temperatures averaging between 32 to 47 degrees Fahrenheit, be sure to come prepared with a heavy jacket, muffler, and winter cap
  • If you’re still having trouble dealing with the chill, go to any convenience store and purchase a box of hokkairo disposable heating pads that you can adhere to the inside of your shoes, gloves, and jackets
  • The low humidity in winter results in crystal clear views, so you may be able to see the silhouette of Mt. Fuji from the top of Tokyo Skytree
