Chaise lounges are plentiful and the water is seductively warm, enticing swimmers to stay in long.
With such a gorgeous beach, few guests at Club Med Turkoise prefer spending time around the pool during the day. That said, it’s a lovely spot to linger after dinner, sipping a tropical drink, gratis in the all-inclusive rate.
Wherever you’ve spent the day, return to the beach at sunset for the best show on the island.
THE OCEAN
Explore the ocean depths in this divers’ paradise, one of the world’s top wall-diving destinations.
Popular beach sports at Club Med Turkoise include scuba diving, windsurfing, sailing, beach volleyball. and waterskiing. There’s no charge for lessons in kayaking, sailing Hobie Cats, windsurfing, or snorkeling.
The snorkel boat at Club Med Turkoise departs twice a day (no charge) to different locations and provides equipment. Water temperatures are generally in the low 80s.
Some visitors recommend snorkeling at Coral Gardens; a sunken freighter is among its underwater attractions.
DAY-TIME ACTIVITIES
There’s also a troupe of circus performers who guide trampoline and flying trapeze activities in addition to producing several shows weekly.
Off-premise, take excursions such as taking a powerboat to Middle Caicos for a cave safari or touring the island by boat.

DINING & NIGHT-TIME ACTIVITIES
Breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets are laden with fresh fruits and vegetables, pasta, seafood, cheeses, breads and desserts. (Guests rave about the white-chocolate bread.)
Food and presentation have a distinctive French touch, and daily changing themes (Italian, Asian, Mexican, etc.) keep things from getting boring.
Inside, communal tables seat ten persons. Those who’d rather keep to themselves can eat outside at individual tables. Beer and inexpensive wines are included with meals.
Evenings at Club Med Turkoise, guests gather at Sharkie’s Bar. (In addition to alcoholic beverage, Sharkie’s can supply smoothies, frozen drinks, and java jolts from an espresso machine.)
But that’s not the only night-time activity: There’s a weekly sunset cruise, circus performances, and production shows put on by the G.O.s. A DJ spins club music in the disco following the show, and you can always try your luck in a poker tournament or at the slot machines.
There are also two other restaurants including the quieter beachfront Grille. Dinners also have a different nightly theme when it comes to how to dress: Wednesday is cowboy, Friday is (not very) formal, on Saturday many guests wear black, and for Sunday dinner they’re in white.

Sunday: At Sea
Monday: Rhodes, Greece
Tuesday: Bodrum, Turkey
Wednesday: Dalyan River, Turkey
Thursday: Santorini, Greece
Friday: Hydra, Greece
Saturday: Piraeus (Athens), Greece
Oh, the Places You’ll Go!
Athens
Athens is the historical capital of Europe, and the birthplace of democracy, arts, science and philosophy of western civilization. Home of Plato, Socrates, Pericles, Euripides, Sophocles, Aeschylus. Athens is one of the world’s oldest cities. It’s recorded history spanning around 3.400 years and it is being inhabited since the 11th millennium B.C. E. Today, under the shadow of Parthenon, the contemporary urban scenery of the sprawling city reflects its exciting history, and its multi- cultural modern personality.
Rhodes
Rhodes has a long and impressive history; it’s a place where the strong medieval aspect blends with the traditional Greek one. It is also an island with great natural beauty: the lovely beaches face the pine woods on the mountainsides; the mountain villages overlook the seaside towns; and the archaeological sites, the medieval monuments, and the cosmopolitan resorts arranged in the traditional style all conspire to make the popularity of this destination so hard to resist, even to a demanding traveler.
Bodrum
Turkey’s top resort, Bodrum, is more than the town of that name. The Bodrum Peninsula, extending west into the Aegean and bordering the Mediterranean, actually has a dozen resort towns and villages along its shores, of which famous Bodrum is but one. Each has its own beaches, hotels and other pleasures. Although Bodrum was Turkey’s original south Aegean seaside resort, and has the richest history on the peninsula with its crusader castle and Mausoleum, other villages—now grown to towns—are becoming almost as well-known.
The Dalyan
The Dalyan is part of the Turkish Riviera, some of the most beautiful coastal territory in the Mediterranean. Most famous for the breeding ground of the endangered loggerhead sea turtle at Itzuzu Beach, the shores of the Dalyan River provide access to several of Turkey’s historical sites. Near the fishing town of Dalyan visitors may find the ancient Carian city of Kaunos, while travelers on the river, navigating through the dense reeds, may view the Lycian tombs, carved directly into the cliffs over the river.
Santorini
Santorini, known since ancient times as Thira, is one of the most famous islands in the world. The fact that you can sit in front of the caldera, enjoy local dishes, a drink or a coffee while gazing at the remarkable beauty of an active volcano is priceless! The island is actually a group of islands consisting of Thira, Thirassia, Aspronissi, Palea and Nea Kameni in the southernmost part of the Cyclades.
Hydra
Hydra is a popular sailing destination. A rich naval tradition and a cosmopolitan island ambience are the defining characteristics of Hydra – a popular island in the Argosaronic Gulf – which attracts every year many personalities and jet-setters from Greece and abroad. This was the favourite destination and place of residence of painter Nikos Hatzikyriakos-Ghika, Leonard Cohen, and Henry Miller. It is also the birthplace of painter Panagiotis Tetsis, and of many other famous artists, writers etc. The island’s great beauty was appreciated also by celebrities such as Maria Callas, Pablo Picasso, and Sophia Loren.

SUMMER 2022 SKIING GROUP TRIP TO CHILE
Nevados de Chillan
Located in Chile’s southern region, Nevados de Chillan ski area is spread across the skirt of an active volcano Chillan and is one of the few resorts in Chile with tree skiing and hot springs. The resort enjoys some of Chile’s best snow conditions with an average snowfall of 25 ft and a diverse spread of terrain offering something for all ability levels. Nevados de Chillan in Chile is great for beginners and intermediates, but the feature of this ski resort is the interesting off-piste terrain that’s come about from a history of rivers of lava flow (none of them recently). Nevados de Chillan is renowned for its great backcountry ski touring opportunities, and the resort also offers cat skiing and heli-skiing.
Nevados de Chillan is a bit more off the radar compared to Portillo and Valle Nevado so it is rare to find long lift lines and tons of skiers tracking out the resort. Unlike Portillo and Valle Nevado, Nevados de Chillan offers tree skiing (when the snow conditions are very good). The unique feature of this resort is its natural outdoor thermal pools and one of the largest spa centers. The resort is also the only ski center in Chile that has a neighboring town, Las Trancas with more of a local’s vibe and plenty of entertaining restaurants and bars. Expert terrain around the volcano is endless. While most of the resort lacks the super steeps found in Portillo Resort to the north, most of the area is un-groomed with countless options for off-piste and backcountry exploring. It also has the longest ski run in South America (8 miles and it’s called Tres Marias), and is the only one with direct access to the thermal pools.
The off-piste and backcountry terrain is the real highlight here. You can ski tour here for days, exploring nearby valleys, summiting the volcanoes, ski some serious verticals and at the end of the day, soak in at the natural hot springs.

Carnival
From the beautiful beaches of Rio de Janeiro to Rio Carnival and the Rio Nightlife, the type of energy that the city of Rio emulates is just simply electrifying. What is even more exhilarating are the deliciously bronzed samba dancers, the pulsating music, the energy and applause of the spectators filled with Cariocas, natives of Rio de Janeiro, and visitors from around the world who call come to the same place to experience the world famous Rio Carnival.
The city glows with the smiles and energy of the locals or Cariocas. Samba music can be heard coming from neighborhoods throughout the city and crowds gather to dance and play all day, night and straight into the next morning. It is the inherent spirit of the Cariocas and their true joie de vivre that makes Rio Carnival such a glorious success year after year!
Rio De Janeiro
Rio de Janeiro is a 10-million inhabited metropolis by the sea.
Given Rio’s gifted landscape, with mountains, beaches, the lake and forests, cariocas and visitors are an active bunch. Ruled by the sun, Rio de Janeiro offers much more than the beaches, the Sugar Loaf and the Statue of the Christ.
What can you expect from a city that is famous for its Samba, Bossa Nova and Funk? Rio de Janeiro nightlife is all about samba clubs, jazz bars, dance halls, pubs, lounges and nightclubs. Lapa is the headquarter of the music arena in Rio de Janeiro. Leblon, Ipanema and Copacabana also offer dozen of ways for to spend a couple of sleepless nights like a native in the Marvelous city. And yes, blended in with the happiest people on earth, the cariocas.
The beaches of Rio you are most likely to explore during your visit to Rio are Leme, a quieter and more visited by families, Copacabana, mostly frequented by tourists, Ipanema, Leblon and Barra. The most popular beaches are Copacabana and Ipanema. But there are other beaches you should consider such as Recreio and Praia da Reserva.
When the subject is food, variety comes in many forms in Rio de Janeiro, which is not surprising given the large immigrant population of Lebanese, Japanese, Italians, Spanish, German and French. Not to mention the Portuguese and the Africans who have strongly influenced the regional cuisine.
It’s easy to eat well in Rio, regardless of your budget and you dietary restrictions. Fresh tropical fruit is the rule for a healthy meal. In fact, most cariocas start their day with a juice that often includes an Amazonian flavor like Açai or Cupuaçu. You will notice a Juice bar in every corner of the city. Soon you will get use to them. They are you cheapest and fastest option for a squeezed-by-order mango or carambola juice, or even for a cafezinho – strong, black, sweet coffee.

And don’t forget what Warren Miller has always told you “If you don’t do it this year, you’ll only be one year older when you do.” …don’t make it two.

Antarctica Express Air-Cruise
Your journey begins in Ushuaia, Argentina, at the pier. Board your ship in the afternoon and sail along the Beagle Channel towards Puerto Williams, Chile, the southernmost town in the world. Explore the surroundings before setting sail to Cape Horn.
After an overnight crossing of Nassau Bay, you awake in full view of legendary Cape Horn! Weather permitting, board a Zodiac, and be one of the few privileged adventurers to step foot on this famous and rarely visited island. Back on board, set sail towards Antarctica and cross the famous passage named in honor of Sir Francis Drake, the great 16th-century British explorer.
As you sail through the Drake Passage en route to King George Island, in the South Shetland Islands, attend an engaging program of lectures and presentations. In the company of expert guides, watch for wildlife from the lounge or from the outside decks. You may spot magnificent seabirds, such as albatrosses and petrels, as well as different species of whales on their way south to Antarctica.
After crossing the Antarctic Convergence, the environment changes noticeably. Keep your camera ready, as this is the time to watch for the first icebergs and the first sight of Antarctic land. Reaching the South Shetland Islands, sail in ice-filled bays while enjoying the company of seabirds, penguins, seals, and whales. Board a Zodiac for your first memorable shore visit to a penguin colony. Taking advantage of the endless Antarctic daylight, exploration will continue well into the evening.
Upon reaching King George Island, disembark at Fildes Bay. A 2-km (1.25-mi) walk takes you through Chile’s Frei Station and Russia’s Bellingshausen Station to the aircraft. Bid farewell to Antarctica as you board the flight back to Punta Arenas. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel for the night. (Note: Meals in Punta Arenas are at your leisure and not included in the program).

Santorini is one of the Cyclades islands in the Aegean Sea. Crescent-shaped Santorini (or Thira), the precious gem of the Aegean, is actually a group of islands consisting of Thira, Thirassia, Aspronissi, Palea and Nea Kameni in the southernmost part of Cyclades.
It was devastated by a volcanic eruption in the 16th century BC, forever shaping its rugged landscape. The whitewashed, cubiform houses of its 2 principal towns, Fira and Oia, cling to cliffs above an underwater caldera (crater). They overlook the sea, small islands to the west and beaches made up of black, red and white lava pebbles.

Costa Rica 2021 – Arenal Springs Resort & Azura Beach Resort
ARENAL AREA
Arenal Volcano National Park and La Fortuna
La Fortuna is a town in the Northern Plains, home to the majestic Arenal Volcano and one of the most beautiful places in Costa Rica because of its natural and geological wealth and the wide range of tourist activities. The Arenal Volcano is an active volcano although its activity has significantly decreased since 2011. However, there continue to be two very different landscapes in its structure: a cover of dense, green vegetation, and another dominated by lava and sand of the last eruptions.
Hot Springs of La Fortuna
The hot waters from the Arenal Volcano are rich in minerals associated with health, so it is one of the most visited sites in the country for relaxing and enjoying an extraordinary natural landscape in the rainforest. There are several tourist developments that offer hot springs, but particularly noteworthy is the River Tabacon hot springs, which have an average temperature of 37 degrees Celsius and runs freely into the river.
Located on the southeast side of the volcano is Chato Hill which is an extinct volcano with an altitude of 1,140 m.s.n.m. Currently, in the crater you can see a greenish lagoon about 550 meters across, bordered by dense vegetation. To reach the lagoon you must walk an average of 5 hours in a narrow walkway, all worth the while to appreciate the beauty of the place. At the entrance to the main road to Chato Hill is the waterfall La Fortuna, one of the jewels of this place measuring 70 meters high and with pools for cooling off.
Near the village of Guatuso, along the Frio River is the Maleku Indigenous Reserve. Currently, the population has approximately 600 people, so you can visit some villages that preserve their culture, as in the case of El Sol, Margarita, and Tonjibe. In the area of La Fortuna there is also a small settlement that aims to show Maleku culture for tourism purposes and preserve their customs.
The Celeste River is one of the natural wonders of Costa Rica, formed from the union of two rivers with different mineral content from the slopes of the Tenorio Volcano, this gives the waters of this river a very particular blue color. The river is protected by the Tenorio National Park, which offers a trail of 7 kilometers surrounding the area, showing the main geological attractions, such as Teñideros, hot springs, the intense sky-blue waterfall, hot springs and fumaroles, between others.
A few kilometers from the center of La Fortuna is the country’s largest artificial lake. Lake Arenal is an anchored dam between forests and mountains that is 87.8 square kilometers, and at an elevation of 546 meters above sea level, this lagoon is ideal for boat tours, kayaking, fishing tourism and water skiing; windsurfing and SUP, among others.
The Black Reed Wildlife Refuge is located north of Costa Rica adjacent to the border of Nicaragua. There is a wetland of about 10,171 hectares surrounded by its extensive biodiversity, especially for species migrating from January to March, which require areas like this to make their migrating tour successfully. It is an ideal site for bird watching; so many visitors choose to take boat trips on the waters of the Frio River to reach Black Reed. The village of Black Reed is small but offers all a tourist needs to explore the area.
The area of Bajos del Toro, located at 1,442 meters above sea level, conceals natural treasures, among them Toro Amarillo and Agrio River Waterfalls. The biggest of all are the Toro Amarillo Waterfalls, measuring 90 meters high, and is formed from the union of three rivers: Toro Amarillo River, Desagüe River and Agrio River (named for its lemony taste), all of which have water with high mineral content that makes the landscape a fairy tale scene. Its landscape is unique because it has a particular blend of rivers, waterfalls, hydroelectric projects, natural reserves, and agricultural landscapes.
Puerto Viejo de Sarapiqui is a typical riverbank community, surrounded by forests and agricultural plantations, featuring rural architecture and numerous hammock bridges. Sarapiqui River tours allow you to watch wildlife from the dock. This area also allows you to enjoy whitewater rafting. The Sarapiqui River is 84 kilometers long and connects with the San Juan River (bordering Nicaragua), Barra del Colorado and Tortuguero. Near the town of Sarapiqui you can find the Vara Blanca and Cinchona communities, which offer the traveler very beautiful rural landscapes combined with dense vegetation. Imposed within its lush forest are a series of beautiful waterfalls culminating with the La Paz Waterfall.
Following the road bordering Lake Arenal one can locate along the way the little green lagoon Cote or Coter, standing at approximately 680 meters above sea level. Although the distance appears short, it has a diameter of 1 kilometer and its geological features have made several Costa Rican scientists believe that it could be a crater of an extinct volcano. Currently, it has recreational and tourist use, offering boat trips and artisanal fishing.

Welcome to paradise, welcome to Key West
If viewed from afar, Key West seems to float amid a large expanse of sky and sea.
An MSC Cruise will take you right to the southernmost point of the United States, in the Sunshine State, a land of sun-seekers and wild beaches. About 150 km from Cuba, an MSC cruise in the Caribbean and the Antilles is an opportunity to admire the crystal clear waters surrounding Key West, a strip of land just a few kilometers from Miami. The Spaniards nicknamed it “Island of Bones” because here the indigenous people buried their deceased love ones. Connected to the mainland by bridges, Key West is literally a paradise that offers a breathtaking panorama and stages an ancient culture and history. Enjoy the sunset at Mallory Square and get lost in Duval street, one of the liveliest streets of the city, with shops, clubs, and restaurants, and you won’t ever want to leave. It is no coincidence that the likes of Harry S. Truman, Tennessee Williams, and Ernest Hemingway decided to reside here.
Don’t miss the chance to visit the residence of Hemingway himself: An MSC excursion will take you inside the villa, now a museum, where the writer lived for about ten years. A dive into his life: the paintings, the typewriter, the kitchen and every corner that the writer shared with his second wife Pauline Pfeiffer. During his stay in Key West, Hemingway wrote his novel The Old Man and the Sea, winner of a Pulitzer Prize and the Nobel Prize.
When in Key West, a visit to the sea is a must. With an MSC excursion, it is possible to see its depths, from the comfort of a glass-bottomed boat, built to admire the different varieties of colorful fish that populate the Atlantic Ocean.

The land of the swallows
A forty-kilometer-long island directly off the coast from Playa del Carmen, Isla Cozumel is a renowned cruise-ship call: nearly every day, up to ten cruise ships dock at one of the island’s three dedicated piers, all just south of the only town, San Miguel.
A holiday to Mexico with MSC Cruises will present you with restaurants, souvenir shops, and jewelry stores, all along the malecón (Av Rafael Melgar) in downtown San Miguel.
If you fancy a museum, the attractive Museo de la Isla de Cozumel has small displays of the flora, fauna and marine life of the island, as well as a good collection of Maya artifacts and old photos.
If you’re not a diver, there’s a certain appeal in wandering the relaxed inland blocks of San Miguel, away from the piers, spotting Maya ruins and birds (the Maya called the island cuzamil – “land of the swallows”) in the dense forests and being the only person on the windswept eastern beaches.
Midway across the island, San Gervasio is the only excavated Maya site on Cozumel. With several small temples connected by sacbeob, or long white roads, it was one of the many independent city-states that survived the fall of Chichén Itzá, flourishing between 1200 AD and 1650 AD. As part of a larger nature reserve, the site is worth a visit for the numerous birds and butterflies you can spot early in the morning or late in the day.

Mayan architecture along stunning beaches
Without a doubt, Progreso is a city that can satisfy your desire for the beach. Docking with your MSC cruise at the Caribbean and the Antilles, you will see a long and spacious coast, surrounded by the longest pier in Mexico, 4 miles, where you can find peace in a relaxed atmosphere.
Built in the nineteenth century as a seaport of Mérida, Progreso is located in the north-central part of Yucatàn overlooking the Gulf of Mexico. It is purely a maritime city and a very important industrial centre, around which, only a short distance away, there are numerous archaeological sites dating back to the Mayan culture.
To explore this city’s history, an MSC excursion will take you to Chichén-Itzà, an important Mayan archaeological site which is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The site includes numerous buildings; what catches the most attention is the temple of Kukulkan, a stepped pyramid from the pre-Columbian era with stairways running along the four sides. The Temple of the Warriors is also very stunning; it consists of a large stepped pyramid with rows of carved columns, depicting warriors on the front and sides. Chichén-Itzà is characterized by the seven ball game fields. In particular the biggest one is adorned by bas-reliefs.

Singapore and Bali 2020
Date:
- May 02 – 12, 2020
Price:
- Starting from $2,750.00
- Single supplement $1,450.00
Start your tour by exploring Singapore, a city state at the crossroads of culture. Singapore warmly embraces the kaleidoscope of peoples that call the country home, and which you’ll discover in the cultural enclaves of Chinatown, Little India and Kampong Glam (Malay district). And this melting pot has left a lasting impact on the vibrant culinary scene, one of Southeast Asia’s best. In recent years, awe-inspiring, futuristic attractions like Gardens by the Bay and Marina Bay Sands have enhanced the city skyline. However, the country still retains its charming, historic neighborhoods crisscrossed by crowded side streets still teeming with traditional vendor stalls. Nicknamed, the “City in a Garden”, Singapore is covered in greenery and full of impressive gardens, such as the Singapore Botanic Garden which is home to the world’s largest orchid display.
Then, continue your Asian adventure in Bali. The first part of your stay is in Nusa Lembongan Island. An island that embraces the beauty of Balinese culture but without the crowds. Located just 30 minutes by boat from Bali’s Sanur, this is what people say Bali was like 30 years ago. In Lembongan you’ll find pristine beaches with coarse white sand, soaring cliff viewpoints, and sea views that can get very idyllic at sunset. Singapore
Though physically small, Singapore is an economic giant. A truly modern metropolis, the city-state of Singapore is unlike anywhere else in Southeast Asia. Founded as a trading post for the British Empire, its rapid development and western style are a counterpoint to the more visceral Asian cities of Thailand, Vietnam, and Malaysia.
Because of its efficient and determined government, Singapore has become a flourishing country that excels in trade and tourism and is a model for developing nations. The capital city, also called Singapore, covers about a third of the area of the main island and is a blended mix of Malay, Chinese, Arab, Indian and English cultures and religions. Its unique ethnic tapestry affords visitors a wide array of sightseeing as well as culinary opportunities from which to choose.
Lembongan
Nusa Lembongan is an island located southeast of Bali. It is part of a group of three islands that make up the Nusa Penida district, of which it is the most famous. Full of hidden coves, perfect sunset spots, lovely guesthouses, and boutique resorts, Nusa Lembongan is perfect for a couple of days away from it all. Spotting huge manta rays, underwater buddha statues and beautiful corals and colorful fish are the highlights. Nusa Lembongan is one of the best places to visit in Bali, providing a perfect balance between raw natural beauty, relaxation, and adventure.
Ubud
Ubud is, in many ways, the cultural hub of Bali. Home to one of Bali’s royal families, this traditional country town has royal palaces and ancient temples. The town is also where some of the world’s notable artisans and collectors have visited and worked in. Along the main street are dozens of art studios and galleries, along with an excellent local crafts market selling antiques, woodcarvings, crafts, textiles, paintings, and jewelry. A short drive outside Ubud will take you to Tegenungan Waterfall, Ubud Monkey Forest, and the photogenic Tegallalang rice terrace. Join a day trip to local villages like Campuhan, Penestanan, Peliatan, and Batuan, where you can see locals making and selling authentic Balinese crafts.

EXPERIENCE
Magestic Gardens in Lion City Singapore
One of the top places to visit in Asia, Gardens by the Bay spans over 100 hectares and is a highlight for any visitor to Singapore. Built at a cost of over one billion dollars, the gardens opened June 2012 and have already been billed as an unmissable attraction. The gardens house two domes or conservatories, Cloud Forest and Flower Dome, which are climate-controlled indoor glasshouses. The Flower Dome (the larger of the two) replicates the cool-dry climate of the Mediterranean and South Africa, whilst the Cloud Forest replicates a cool-moist climate found in Tropical Montane regions such as Mount Kinabalu in Sabah and high elevation areas in South America. Within the gardens, there are also 18 impressive-looking Supertrees (tree-like structures), which are vertical gardens up to 50 metres tall and perform a multitude of functions. Along with providing a bird’s eye view of the entire gardens, they also collect rainwater, generate solar power and act as vending ducts for the park’s conservatory. During our visit to Gardens by the Bay, we shall visit the Flower Dome and Cloud Forest, as well as an elevated walkway situated between two of the larger Supertrees. Here we can enjoy an impressive aerial view of the gardens.

They are not aggressive in any way but they could seem intimidating!

HIGHLIGHTS
Porto is a coastal city in northwest Portugal known for its stately bridges and port wine production. In the medieval Ribeira (riverside) district, narrow cobbled streets wind past merchants’ houses and cafes. Sao Francisco Church is known for its lavish baroque interior with ornate gilded carvings. The palatial 19th-century Palacio de Bolsa, formerly a stock market, was built to impress potential European investors.
Porto gives you as much cobbled-street charm and dazzling ancient architecture as you’ll get anywhere else in Europe, and it’s nestled in one of the world’s leading wine regions — yet it’s still affordable and uncrowded. The city gets much of its character from Spain and North Africa — the signature azulejo blue tiles, which you’ll see adorning many of the buildings, have Moorish roots. It’s also one of the best places in Europe to see medieval architecture; Portugal stayed neutral during World War II and was never bombed, so you’ll find that the sorts of fortresses you’re used to seeing only as ruins are still intact.
The Alentejo is a geographical, historical and cultural region of south-central and southern Portugal. In Portuguese, its name means “beyond the Tagus river”. Visitors of the Alentejo Region are at first taken by surprise by the remarkable traces of successive cultures: dolmens and cromlechs, Roman and Arab vestiges mingling with the most recent signs of Christianity, exemplified by the numerous medieval castles that stand out in the vast plain. A region of sun-baked olive groves, fortified towns and traditional villages, all of which are a joy to explore from Evora. Evora and the Alentejo offer a truly unique Portuguese experience, with a distinctive heritage, delicious regional cuisines and an infectious unhurried pace of life
Although equal in beauty to neighboring Mediterranean mainstays like Majorca and St.-Tropez, the Algarve is still enjoying relative obscurity but with glittering new resorts popping up along the coastline, a handful of Michelin-starred restaurants, and a delicious type of wine you won’t find anywhere else, it’s only a matter of time before that’s no longer the case. Beaches are the biggest draw, with more than 150 rolling out their wide, golden shores like welcome mats. Many are bordered by craggy rock cliffs and caves for an extra photogenic effect. Some 300 to 350 indigenous varieties of grapes grow in Portugal, and as a result, you can toss a cork in any direction and hit a bottle of delicious, locally produced wine. Negra Mole grapes, however, grow exclusively in the Algarve, and they’re used to produce a gentle, drinkable red that hits the palate like a Pinot Noir.
Lisbon is Portugal’s hilly, coastal capital city. From imposing Sao Jorge Castle, the view encompasses the old city’s pastel-colored buildings, Tagus Estuary and Ponte 25 de Abril suspension bridge. Nearby, the National Azulejo Museum displays 5 centuries of decorative ceramic tiles. Just outside Lisbon is a string of Atlantic beaches, from Cascais to Estoril. Lisbon is one of the most charismatic and vibrant cities of Europe. It is a city that effortlessly blends traditional heritage, with striking modernism and progressive thinking. As a holiday destination, Lisbon offers a rich and varied history, a buzzing nightlife, delicious and affordable food, some of the best wines and is blessed with a glorious year-round climate.
Cascais, a formerly quaint fishing village that became (along with neighboring Estoril) a popular resort favored by European nobility and kings in the early 20th century. Today, it’s a colorful cosmopolitan town with elegant pedestrian streets, luxuriant villas, fashionable shops, restaurants and bars. Elements of its fishing village roots can still be felt at the lively fish auction that takes place every afternoon by the main beach and its brightly painted fishing boats, and the story of old Cascais is told by old photographs, paintings, and other items at the small “Museu do Mar” (Museum of the Sea).
Considered not only one of the wonders of Portugal but indeed of Europe, Sintra is truly a gem. Once the royal town of the country, it now deservedly holds UNESCO world heritage status and attracts hordes of visitors throughout the year. Its unusual geography, nestled in a stretch of hills surrounded on all sides by plain, estuary or ocean, and its subsequent climate, which is perhaps more typical of Northern Europe, create a verdant paradise where ornate palaces lie hidden behind tall trees and walled gardens, history abounds and romantics feel that they have at last found their nirvana. Hans Christian Anderson found inspiration here, describing Sintra as the “most beautiful place in Portugal” and Lord Byron during his time here christened it his “glorious Eden”. However, perhaps the most distinguished homage is paid by Portugal’s national poet, Luis de Camoes, in his epic poem Os Lusiadas.

The current construction was originally built between 1406 and 1420 by 100,000 artisans and a million laborers as a Palace for the Ming and Qing Emperors, The Palace is so large, that legend has it was designed with 9,999 rooms, to represent the ultimate Imperial number. From this Palace, the emperors governed China, often rather erratically, as they tended to become lost in this self-contained little world and rarely left it. A truly great monument to a great civilization.
Here you will be transferred to a very typical ‘Beijing’ area – the Hutong’s, in which Beijinger’s have lived for hundreds of years. You will be transported by Rickshaw through the Hutongs; narrow alleys formed by closely built dwellings in a quadrangle formation, facing onto an inner courtyard. These were built during the Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties, the sizes and designs varying depending on the social status of the residents. The Hutong’s still account for about 15% of all housing in Beijing.
The Temple of Heaven is ranked among the most famous structures in China. The dominant feature of the entire complex is the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests, an ornate and colorful structure mounted on a three-tiered marble altar. Amazingly, the wooden pillars ingeniously support the ceiling without nails or cement with the roof alone weighing an estimated 2 tonnes. In the park, many Beijinger’s who have retired, playing Chinese chess, dancing, performing Peking Opera and doing Tai Chi among other popular activities. What was once the preserve of the Emperor is now a playground for the masses.
The most voted for of the Seven Wonders of the World, the Great Wall is a breathtaking sight and an awesome experience. Started in the fifth century BC and gradually extended over the centuries, particularly during the Ming Dynasty, it served as a defensive boundary against marauding Huns and other nomadic tribes. Mutianyu Great Wall connects Juyongguan Pass in the west and Gubeikou Great Wall in the east. It’s one of the best-preserved parts of the Great Wall. With woods cover over ninety-six percent of the total scenic area, the wall presents different aspects of beauty in the four seasons.
Affectionately known as Bird’s Nest, the National Stadium is situated in Olympic Green Village. It was designed as the main stadium of 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. After the Olympics ended, it has been opened as a tourist attraction. Now, it’s the center of international or domestic sports competition and recreation activities. In 2022, the opening and closing ceremonies of another important sport event, Winter Olympic Games will be held here.
The highlight of your stay in Xian is the visit to the underground vaults where the famed Terra Cotta Warriors were discovered. In 1974, near Xi’an in central China, villagers chanced upon what has become one of the world’s most astonishing archaeological findings – an 8,000 man army in battle-ready formation, each warrior a life-size figure in pottery made over 2,200 years ago. The warriors were found when a group of peasants digging a well accidentally made one of the century’s greatest archaeological discoveries of the Twentieth Century.
When Zhu Yuanzhang, the first Emperor of the Ming dynasty (1368-1644), captured Huizhou, a hermit named Zhu Sheng admonished him that he should ‘built high walls, store abundant food supplies and take time to be an Emperor,’ so that he could fortify the city and unify the other states. After the establishment of the Ming dynasty, Zhu Yuanzhang followed his advice and began to enlarge the wall built initially during the old Tang dynasty (618 -907), creating the modern Xian City Wall. It’s the most complete city wall that has survived in China, as well being one of the largest ancient military defensive systems in the world.

Yu Garden is a traditional Chinese park complete with beautiful pavilions, miniature lakes, bridges and rock formations. This small park is located in the heart of Shanghai’s old Chinese quarter and links to Yuyuan Market. Built in 1559, in the Suzhou style by a high official in honour of his father, the garden has maintained its classic beauty over the centuries.
In the western part of Shanghai, a very modern and flourishing city, there is a venerable and famous Buddhist temple, Jade Buddha Temple. In 1882, an old temple was built to keep two jade Buddha statues which had been brought from Burma by a monk named Huigen. In 1918, the old temple was burned down and a new one was built on the present site and named Jade Buddha Temple. The two precious jade Buddhist statues are carved with whole white jade. The sparkling and crystal-clear white jade gives the Buddhas the beauty of sanctity and make them more vivid.
A wide boulevard lined with impressive neo-classical buildings. The Bund is the classic image of Shanghai and the city’s main attraction. Sweeping along the western side of the Huangpu River, the majestic buildings date back to Shanghai’s grandest days. Many banks and financial companies built impressive offices here in the early 20th century when Shanghai was the financial capital of Asia. To Westerners, it was for years Asia’s Wall Street where fortunes were made and lost.
Shanghainese will tell you, “If you have not visited Nanjing Road, you have not seen China”. Nanjing Road, regarded as the premier shopping, visiting and business thoroughfare in Shanghai, if not China. It is a symbol of Shanghai’s rapid development and business expansion. Almost like a permanent coming out party. Over time, it has been restructured, undergoing significant changes. Big traditional stores no longer dominate the market since modern shopping malls, specialty stores, theaters, and international hotels have mushroomed on both sides of the street. What happens here affects not just Shanghai, but one-fifth of the world’s population.
Huangpu River is a landmark of Shanghai, separating the city into two parts, Pudong and Puxi. On both sides of the river, there gather various styles of architectures and essential scenery. Famous attractions like the Bund and Lujiazui Finance and Trade Zone are located along the river. The best way to appreciate Huangpu River is to take a ship cruising on the river, especially in the evening. At night, the lights are blazing, decorating the different styles of architectures standing on the banks, showing different beauty.

Scotland and Ireland group trip 2019
From medieval old towns and fairytale castles to rolling green hills and craggy coastlines, the allure of Scotland and Ireland beckons your imagination. Leprechauns vs. lake monsters. Bagpipes vs. Blarney Stone. Guinness vs. gallons of whisky. It’s impossible to choose a favorite when Scotland & Ireland go head to head. Hence you need to do them both.
Optional Pre-trip Extension to London July 2-6
Glasgow is a port city on the River Clyde in Scotland’s western Lowlands. It’s famed for its Victorian and art nouveau architecture, a rich legacy of the city’s 18th–20th-century prosperity due to trade and shipbuilding. Today it’s a national cultural hub, home to institutions including the Scottish Opera, Scottish Ballet and National Theatre of Scotland, as well as acclaimed museums and a thriving music scene.
Edinburgh is the capital of Scotland and it is located in central eastern Scotland, near the Firth of Forth, close to the North Sea. Thanks to its spectacular rocks, rustic buildings and a huge collection of medieval and classic architecture, including numerous stone decorations, it is often considered one of the most lively cities in Europe.
Edinburgh is not only one of the most beautiful cities in Europe, it is a city with a fantastic position. The view falls on all sides – green hills, the hint of the blue sea, the silhouettes of the buildings and the red cliffs. It is a city that calls you to explore it by foot – narrow streets, passageways, stairs and hidden church yards on every step will pull you away from the main streets.
Elegantly arranged along the Tay, Perth is a pleasant city with large tracts of parkland surrounding an easily navigated center. Perth was once the capital of Scotland and the Scottish Parliament once sat here. Today, the city is laced with gorgeous city architecture, unrivaled surrounding landscapes and an intriguing royal history. The ‘Fair City’ of Scotland continues to inspire locals and travelers alike.
Culture, history and super-friendly people are what Belfast is all about. Visit here and you’ll experience a place unlike any other in Europe. This is a city that can trace its history back to the Bronze Age; a city that built Titanic; a city forging a unique food scene; and a city that dances to its own beat. From its mighty shipbuilding past to the dynamic arts scene that swirls around the Cathedral Quarter, Belfast likes to mix it up.
A harbor city on Ireland’s west coast, sits where the River Corrib meets the Atlantic Ocean. The city’s hub is 18th-century Eyre Square, a popular meeting spot surrounded by shops and traditional pubs that often offer live Irish folk music. Nearby, stone-clad cafes, boutiques and art galleries line the winding lanes of the Latin Quarter, which retains portions of the medieval city walls.
Welcome to Dublin, a lively capital city that’s as intimate as a village and as friendly as your local Irish pub. With its seamless blend of classic visitor sights, excellent social scene and the natural playgrounds of Dublin Bay and the Dublin Mountains framing it on all sides, this laid back city is an adventure in itself. Dublin is all about the muse behind the music, the craic, and, of course, the people! Dublin has been named Europe’s friendliest city twice by TripAdvisor for good reason. So grab a pint, strike up a conversation, and settle in for the experience of a lifetime.
London, city, capital of the United Kingdom. It is among the oldest of the world’s great cities—its history spanning nearly two millennia—and one of the most cosmopolitan. By far Britain’s largest metropolis, it is also the country’s economic, transportation, and cultural center.

Val d’Isere
Val d’Isere is an authentic Alpine village with the facilities and comfort of a large resort. Its baroque church, traditional houses, the surrounding mountains and the Isere river flowing through its center have long been the inspiration for local architects. The village today is made up of an elegant mixture of luxury hotels, holiday residences, traditional alpine chalets built from stone and wood, and some altogether more contemporary structures.
With two-thirds of its ski area situated inside the heart of the Vanoise National Park, Val d’Isere is governed by nature and the rhythm of the seasons. The resort is committed to preserving the biodiversity of the planet by being socially responsible and respectful of the environment.

Today Kraków, the former capital of Poland, is one of the most important cultural and tourist centers of the country, and the seat to many cultural institutions, theatres, cinemas, museums and philharmonic that make life pleasant for the inhabitants and over 7 million tourists visiting our City every year. Nowhere in Poland could one find such a rich variety of cultural and artistic events: every year Kraków is host to over 40 festivals like the International Jewish Culture Festival, the Print Triennial, the Sacrum Profanum Festival, and the International Short Film Festival. Every year the City hosts over 2,500 performances and concerts. Kraków is a special place that, like a magnet, attracts the people of culture and art who draw their inspiration from the atmosphere and rich past of the City.
Kraków has many green areas that provide opportunities for recreation and active rest, including the Botanical Garden of the Jagiellonian University and the Zoological Garden in the Wolski forest complex which is a traditional place of recreation for the inhabitants. The rich and constantly expanded recreational base (ice rink, swimming pools, including the Aqua Park, tennis courts, and the network of cycling paths) and other venues encourage people to practice sports and spend their time in the open air.

ENGELBERG SWITZERLAND PRESIDENTS WEEK
Engelberg
Engelberg is not just a winter resort – it’s a winter paradise. The town offers such a variety of things to do that you will be tempted to extend your stay long enough to try everything. The two sides of the valley couldn’t be more different and they provide pure enjoyment to both athletes and those who like to take it slower.
Engelberg: the largest – and as the locals like to boast – probably also the most beautiful ski area in central Switzerland. Spread over an altitude of 2000 meters, there is room for snowboarding, skiing and sledding, a varied winter program to make your holiday exciting. The long, snowy winter begins as early as October and lasts into May. The 35 km of cross-country ski trails meandering through the lovely Engelberg area make cross-country skiing a fantastic experience!
Fresh wind in your hair, glistening snow and sunshine – this is what you expect from sledding fun in Engelberg. Try one – or all – of the three different sledding runs with a total length of 7 km. On Fridays and Saturdays between Christmas and early March the sledding runs are also open at night for a fast downhill run. If you prefer a more quite pace, explore the area around Engelberg on 53 km sign-posted winter hiking trails.

Island Hopping Cruise 2019
Overlooking the calm blue waters of the Adriatic, Dubrovnik is one of the world’s most magnificent walled cities. Now a UNESCO world heritage site and Croatia’s most popular destination, it was once the capital of the maritime republic, The Republic of Ragusa (1358-1808).
The city walls, mostly a double line, have been a source of pride for Dubrovnik since the 16th century. Along its course and within its walls lie several towers and fortresses, as well as numerous historic monuments. And beyond the walls, many villas surrounded by pretty gardens. The Stradun, or main street features beautiful late-Renaissance houses on each side. Except for the Stradun, the old city is a maze of picturesque, steep, narrow streets that twist and turn.
It is Croatia’s greenest island with its Mediterranean vegetation, clear and clean sea, gentle sandy shoreline and a wealth of underwater sea life. The island is considered to be one of the most beautiful of the Croatian islands. Half Mljet island is a pristine national park. There are few residents, no large towns and only one major road. Mljet is well known for its white and red wine, olives and goat cheese. It is indeed a unspoilt island covered by a dense Mediterranean forest. The sea is rich in fish and marine life.
Korcula is best known as the birthplace of Marco Polo. The island is a little further away to get to so you have fewer crowds and can enjoy the island more! So lush with dark pine forests, vineyards and olive groves the ancient Greek settlers called it Korkyra Melaina (‘Black Corfu’), Korcula has managed to avoid the tourist trap tendencies of its original Greek namesake to the south.
Korcula town itself is a walled medieval town rising straight up out of the clear blue waters of the Adriatic, with a herringbone pattern of narrow streets and alleys. Korcula produces some good wines, in particular “Grk” and “Posip”, and one of Croatia’s best red wine producing areas, dingac, lies on the nearby Peljesac peninsula.
The island of Vis is a pearl among Croatian Adriatic islands, left untouched by the development of tourism for so many years. Vis has always been an island of fishermen and winegrowers. Komiza on the island of Vis is considered the cradle of fishing in the Adriatic, and in times gone by, the Komiza fishermen where well known in all Mediterranean harbours as experts in their field.
Hvar, a Croatian island in the Adriatic Sea, is best known as a summer resort. Highlights of the port town Hvar include its 13th-century walls, a hilltop fortress and a main square anchored by the Renaissance-era Hvar Cathedral. The island also features beaches such as Dubovica and inland lavender fields. Boat excursions serve the nearby Pakleni Islands, which have secluded beaches and coves. Hvar Island is known for its excellent climate. It enjoys no fewer than 2,800+ hours of sunshine each year. With warm summers and mild winters, rich culture, beautiful views overlooking the Adriatic Sea, it’s no wonder that Hvar Island attracts so many visitors.
Brac provides an excellent window into authentic island life, particularly in the interior. It has been inhabited since Neolithic times and has an extensive and fascinating history.
Bol is a small village that hosts a big, beautiful beach: Zlatni Rat. It is perhaps the best known and the most beautiful beach in Croatia.
With the rugged dalmatian mountains as a backdrop and the blue Adriatic Sea lapping its shores, Split is emerging as one of the must-see cities of Europe.
Come for the scenery and fall in love with the people who know how beautiful their city is and are proud to show it off.
It’s a magnificent blend of antiquity and modernity, with the relics of its time as part of the Roman Empire celebrated as much as the al fresco wining and dining that tourists expect.
With cascading waterfalls hidden among lush forest greenery, it’s easy to see why Croatia’s very own Garden of Eden regularly features in lists of the world’s most beautiful places. At the heart of the Plitvice Lakes National Park, 16 azure pools spill into each other, connected with rocky outcrops dripping in moss. A boardwalk curves sinuously between lakes, allowing visitors to drink in the arresting beauty of the Plitvice Lakes at very close quarters.
The Plitvice Lakes area has been a site of continuous human settlement since prehistory, and today, locals still inhabit small settlements scattered around the park.
Given the long human history of the area, myths and legends have, over time, sprung from each of the 16 lakes. One of the most popular myths is the tale of an ancient, magic queen who was responsible for the creation of the lakes.
