Day 1: AUG 31, 2022

Arrival in Copenhagen

Arrival in Copenhagen Airport and assisted private transfer to your hotel. Check in and afternoon at leisure.

Day 2: SEP 01, 2022

Copenhagen

• Breakfast at hotel
• Local guide for 9 hours
• Coach at disposal for 9 hours
• Entrance – Frederiksborg Museum (Det Nationalhistoriske Museum – Frederiksborg Castle)
• External visit of Kronborg Castle
• Overnight in Standard Room at Admiral Hotel

Meet your guide at the hotel reception for a 9-hour city tour! In the morning you will see City Hall Square where the famous pedestrian street “Stroget” begins. You will pass Tivoli Gardens, dating back to 1843 and onwards past the New Carlsberg Glyptotek and the National Museum. Next are the Old Stock Exchange and the Naval Church. Kings New Square is the home of the Royal Danish Theater with the world-famous ballet. You pass the old canal Nyhavn with its picturesque houses and vessels and continue to see the impressive Gefion Fountain. Shortly afterwards you will make a photo stop at the Little Mermaid statue, the main character of the famous Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale and one of Copenhagen’s main attractions. Shortly afterwards another photo stop will be made at the royal residence Amalienborg Palace and if time permits watch the changing of the guards. Then we will drive to the North of Copenhagen, passing picturesque countryside and small villages, and arrive in Hillerød. Visit Frederiksborg Castle, a unique Renaissance castle built by King Christian IV in the first decade of the 17th century (inside visit). After the visit drive by Fredensborg Castle, the summer residence of the royal family (outside visit/ photo stop) and continue to Elsinore for an external visit to Kronborg Castle, the home of Shakespeare’s Hamlet and listed on UNESCO World Heritage site. Back to Copenhagen and evening at leisure.

Day 3: SEP 02, 2022

Copenhagen → DFDS Harbor

• Coach transfer: Hotel → DFDS Harbor
• Morning at leisure
• Overnight cruise from Copenhagen to Oslo in Outside Cabin with lower beds (A4) – DFDS SEAWAYS

Morning at leisure (please note that shops open at 10:00). 12:30/ Transfer to DFDS Pier (remember to pack an overnight bag, as luggage is stored on the lower deck and not accessible during the voyage). Departure 14:15. Free evening on board.

Day 4: SEP 03, 2022

Oslo, Geilo

• Breakfast on board
• Arrival in Oslo
• Long-distance coach starting: Oslo
• Local guide for 3 hours
• Continue to Geilo
• Overnight in Standard Room at Vestlia Resort Hotel

Breakfast onboard ship. Upon arrival in Oslo (9.15) meet your local English-speaking guide and private LDC for a 3-hour city tour. Enjoy the view from the Opera house situated right on the Oslo fjord where you will spend some time on the outside terrace area. Then we will head to Vigeland’s Park, one of the major Scandinavian cultural treasures, with many sculptures of Gustav Vigeland, who dedicated his life to his artistic works. We will also pass by the Royal Palace, Oslo City Hall, host of the Nobel Peace ceremony, and the main street, Karl Johan. Time for lunch on your own, continue to the mountain village Geilo, (Oslo – Geilo 230km/ 4hours drive) known as one of Norway’s best ski villages in the Winter and surrounded by fjords.

Day 5: SEP 04, 2022

Geilo, Flåm

• Breakfast at hotel
• Long-distance coach
• Train from Geilo → Myrdal
• Train from Myrdal → Flåm
• Drive to Stegastein Viewpoint
• Overnight in Standard Room at Flåmsbrygga Hotel or similar

In the morning transfer to the rail station. Take the train to the small mountain station Myrdal to embark on the Flåm Railway, considered one of the most beautiful train journeys in the world, taking you from 867 meters above sea level in Myrdal to sea level in Flåm. Upon arrival in Flam walk a short distance to your hotel. Afternoon at leisure to enjoy the beauty and tranquility of the small village by the fjord or join the tour to the spectacular viewpoint Stegastein, 650 meters above the fjord (LDC available for the tour).

Day 6: SEP 05, 2022

Flåm, Bergen

• Breakfast at hotel
• Long-distance coach ending: Oslo
• Ferry crossing: Flåm → Gudvangen (Premium)
• Arrival in Gudvangen
• Continue to Steinstø
• Guided tour incl. homemade apple cake, coffee/tea and apple juice (1,5h) – Steinstø Fruktgård
• Optional: Fløibanen Funicular Return Ticket EUR 11pp
• Overnight in Standard Room at Clarion Hotel Admiral or similar

After breakfast walk the short distance to the pier and embark on the Flåm-Gudvangen cruise (dept 9.00/ duration 2 hours) The cruise takes you through the narrow and spectacular Nærøyfjord, considered one of the world’s most beautiful fjord landscapes with its steep mountains, waterfalls and picturesque villages. The area is listed on the UNESCO world heritage list. We take the long drive from Gudvangen to Bergen (3,5 hrs) driving along the beautiful Hardangerfjord with stops in Vossevangen for lunch (at own expense) and at Steinstø Fruit farm to hear about the farm and taste their famous and delicious apple cake and apple juice. Arrive in Bergen late afternoon.

Our local English-speaking guide will take you for a short walking tour of Bryggen, the Hanseatiz heritage commercial buildings at the harbor, and on the UNESCO world heritage list. The guide will then be available to recommend places to explore. It is a must to take the funicular to the top of Mount Floien to enjoy the amazing and famous views of the city (optional). Rest of the day at leisure to explore the city on your own or join one of the optionals.

Optional: Fjordcruise to Mostraumen Straits (3 hours)

Experience quiet and peaceful landscapes, passing through narrow fjords, steep mountains, and waterfalls, getting so close to one, that you may feel the cold water on your face.

Optional: Something different…

Visit two of the interesting and growing local businesses. Drive to Oleana Knit Factory, located by the fjord and known all over the world for their beautiful knitwear. You will have a guided tour of the factory and learn about the history of the family-owned business, followed by a simple and typical Norwegian lunch in the factory cantina. Continue by bus to visit Bareksten Gin Distillery and enjoy a guided tour by the very charismatic owner Stig Bareksten, that has a profound passion for his work. His Bareksten Botanical Gin has won the World Gin Awards and is most likely to be part of the tasting included in the tour.

In the evening transfer to a local restaurant for our farewell 3-course dinner.

Transfer back to the hotel.
