Wheels-Up

Nothing says winter like a picture perfect Swiss Alpine village or ski resort.

Great accommodation is important, but there is much more to designing a perfect holiday. At Alpine Adventures, we emphasize the importance of relationships and personalized experience. Alpine Adventures will help you define your individual travel needs so you can relax and feel confident that real experts are taking care of your travel arrangements.

Here is why we recommend Zermatt as your next ski destination:

Ski or snowboard all day, dine and sun bake on the decks of panoramic restaurants located a mile high, relax by the fire sipping Glühwein, maybe have a dip in the hot tub or party into the night and dish out those Francs for schnapps.

Zermatt stands in the shadow of the mighty Matterhorn, one of Europe’s tallest and most imposing peaks. It is known for its traditional atmosphere and the fact that it is car-free — only electric-cars, horse-drawn sleighs and carriages are allowed. There are three major ski areas — the Sunnegga, Gornergrat and Klein Matterhorn — with more than 75 lifts providing access to over 150 miles of groomed runs up to 13,000 feet above sea level. More than 30 on-mountain restaurants and bars add to the allure and you can even ski to Cervinia in Italy for lunch. Even if you don’t ski, enjoy a plethora of other activities like horse-drawn sleigh rides, winter walking paths, shopping, helicopter sightseeing tours, ice skating or just relaxing at one of the many cafes and delicious pastry shops.

Member Benefit exclusive to Wheels Up

A rail journey through the Swiss Alps has never been so luxurious. In the Excellence Class we guarantee you a window seat and a superb panoramic view while travelling across 291 bridges and through 91 tunnels between St. Moritz and Zermatt.
Along the way you will be served a refined regional 5-course menu with accompanying wines. For an aperitif, some delicious cocktail or to exchange with fellow travelers the Glacier Bar is the perfect place to visit. Thanks to the compass on the ceiling none of the many turns will be missed.

HUSKY SLEIGH RIDES IN FRONT OF THE MATTERHORN

Husky Zermatt organizes husky sleigh rides on the Trockener Steg, right in front of the Matterhorn. At over 3000 meters above sea level, humans and dogs get to know and used to each other. A unique experience!
The Musher (husky owner) then explains how a sled is controlled and the fun can already begin! Ride on the sledge as a passenger or control it yourself with the okay from the Musher. The private husky trail of at least 2 kilometres offers enough space for obstacle-free fun.
When offering sledge rides with huskies, there is also a local guide who will look after you during the activity. After a ride on the gondola lift Matterhorn-Express, he picks you up at the restaurant Trockener Steg and leads you to the circuit.
Huskies love children and love to be petted. Before the sleigh ride, humans and huskies get to know each other and build trust in each other.

GORNERGRAT TOUR

A different way to discover the popular panoramic viewpoint.

On the Gornergrat round trip you will discover the many sides of the Zermatt resort area. Watch the panorama unfold as you take the gondola lift from Zermatt to Riffelberg via the idyllic hamlet of Furi and on the way back enjoy the ride on a section of the impressive rack-and-pinion railway back to Zermatt. If you like, you can take the Riffelberg Express for both sections of the trip (to the mountain and the valley), which cuts 15 minutes off the journey time each way.

FONDUE UNDER THE STARS

In the middle of the Zermatt forests and under the clear starry sky, it’s not just the fire that crackles! From a distance you can smell the fine special cheese mixture that is simmering in a large pot over the fire. After a short walk, you will be welcomed with a warm and soothing drink. The rustic atmosphere frames the culinary outdoor experience – whether as a team event, in small or large groups or as an individual registration – everyone is welcome.

HELICOPTER FLIGHTS TO THE SUMMIT OF MATTERHORN

Helicopter round trips can be exciting. In Zermatt they are simply spectacular. The helicopter pilot and mountain guide, Simon Anthamatten, flies around the Matterhorn in 360° mode for the video community.

Seeing the Matterhorn just once up close is something everyone dreams of. Seeing it very closely is now possible with the 360° virtual reality video flight to the Matterhorn. At the controls is the helicopter pilot and mountain guide Simon Anthamatten from Zermatt. He has become famous around the world as a mountain climber and freerider.
